Spider-hunting Wasps Workshop

22nd May 2024 | 10:30 am - 23rd May 2024 | 4:00 pm

£15

Book here  –  tickets are £15

This two-day workshop will look at the habitats, nesting and identification of the many genera of spider hunting wasps (Pompilidae) – found in Britain.

Day 1 will concentrate on females, looking at the identification features that characterise the various genera with the opportunity to take specimens through relevant keys.

Day 2 will concentrate on males.

This is one of the more difficult aculeate families to work on, so the two days will only provide an introduction.

Our Tutor: Ian Cheeseborough is self-employed in the field of habitat management and entomological surveys, mainly in Shropshire. He has been studying Aculeate Hymenoptera – bees, wasps and ants for over 20 years.

Lunch is not provided but tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be available.
