Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve Invertebrate Recording Day

A general invertebrate recording day at Mere Sands Nature Reserve SSSI. The reserve, managed by Lancashire Wildlife Trust, covers 42 hectares (105 acres) and is made up of lakes, mature broadleaved and conifer woodland, sandy, wet meadows and heaths.
The emphasis is on recording invertebrates and therefore the day is not suitable for the absolute beginner bug enthusiast.
The site is well recorded for Lepidoptera and Odonata, and some limited Coleoptera work has been done but the site is otherwise generally poorly recorded for invertebrates.
The terrain is most flat with good paths. Participants should also be fit enough to be on their feet for the majority of the day.
Further details regarding parking etc. will be circulated a week before the day. There are WC facilities on site. There will be shelter and facilities for making hot drinks.
