Little Budworth Common Invertebrate Recording Day

18th May 2018 | 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Free

A general invertebrate recording day at Little Budworth Common SSSI. The site comprises a mosaic of broadleaved woodland, lowland heath, ponds and boggy mires.

The emphasis is on recording invertebrates and therefore the day is not suitable for the absolute beginner bug enthusiast.

We will also be keeping a look out for the Cheshire Horsefly Atylotus plebeius, an Endangered horsefly that may already be extinct in the UK. Little Budworth Common was one of the last sites in the UK where the species was seen, back in 1995. This record is supported by a male specimen held at the World Museum, Liverpool.

The terrain is mostly flat with good paths but there are some steep parts and areas of bog where we’d like to record. Participants should also be fit enough to be on their feet for the majority of the day.

Further details regarding parking etc. will be circulated a week before the day. There are WC facilities and parking immediately adjacent to the site.

Adults only.
