An Introduction to Bee Identification

22nd June 2018 | 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Free

You might be surprised to learn there are around 270 species of bees in the UK. Honey bees, bumblebees, masonary bees and mining bees are just one small part of a big family of fascinating insects.

National Museums Liverpool bee experts Carl Clee and Tony Parker will introduce you to identifying some of the wild bees that can be found at Ness and the wider landscape.

The morning will be in the classroom learning how to identify bees using museum specimens. The afternoon will be spent in the gardens seeing what can be identified using Ness’s bee hotspots. You will also be shown how to record the bees you find so you could contribute to the knowledge of bees at local and national levels.

Who is it suitable for?

18+ no previous experience necessary.
