SUMMARY:Artle Dale Invertebrate Recording Day
DESCRIPTION:Book here. \nA 26 ha privately owned wooded gorge\, 7km East of Lancaster. It is designated a SSSI as one of the best valleys in Lancashire for it’s bryophyte communities\, including some approaching their extreme south-east range limit in Britain. There is a rich ground flora with scattered\, mainly young deciduous trees but also some veterans and standing deadwood. Some deadwood is also left in-situ. There are large patches of Wild Garlic and the Ramsons Hoverfly Portevinia maculata has been recorded in numbers but little invertebrate work has been done in the valley. This recording day should enable a bit more of the invertebrate interest to be revealed.. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that whilst we welcome invertebrate recorders of all experience levels\, our recording days are not taught or guided sessions. SUMMARY:Colliers Moss Invertebrate Recording Day
DESCRIPTION:Book here \nColliers Moss was created on the spoil and waste from the Bold Colliery and Power Station. \nThe remnants of mossland around the fringes of the site have been restored and areas of sphagnum moss are expanding. The site – some of which is a Local Nature Reserve – supports a range of notable species including water vole\, common lizard and 16 species of dragonfly including Black-tailed Skimmer and Emperor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease be aware that whilst we welcome invertebrate recorders of all experience levels\, our recording days are not taught or guided sessions.
