We hold free and heavily subsidised invertebrate workshops and webinars on identification, recording, curation and field craft to help boost the skills of beginners and experienced entomologists alike. These are complemented with drop-in sessions to facilitate mentoring and networking. We also run an invertebrate recording day programme to bring together the invertebrate recording community and facilitate improvements to baseline data coverage at selected important / under-recorded sites.

Goyt Valley Invertebrate Recording Day

19th August | 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

A general invertebrate recording day in the Goyt Valley, Peak District (VC58, Derbyshire).

We’ll walk up the valley for 15-20 minutes, recording as we go until we reach an open area of grass moorland and upland heath, west of Errwood Hall where we’ll do the majority of recording. This area has no conservation designation but includes a variety of interesting habitats, some of which are on open access land.

Please meet at the free car park (SK012748) next to the Errwood Reservoir.

The emphasis is on recording invertebrates and therefore the day is not suitable for complete beginners.

We will follow social distancing measures and places are limited. Events will be subject to cancellation as a result of any changes that may occur to government guidelines regarding coronavirus.

Booking essential: Further details will be circulated before the day.
