Summary 

This document presents a provisional checklist of barkflies (Psocoptera) recorded in Cheshire and Lancashire (VC58,59,60). It is the first checklist for the region covering this order of insects. The checklist uses the Barkfly Recording Scheme species list, and compiles records from multiple sources including recording schemes, museums, local record centres, iRecord and NBN Atlas (up to 18th Nov 2025). There are 42 confirmed species, alongside additional taxa recorded as aggregates, sensu lato, or unconfirmed.

Species are listed both systematically and alphabetically, with data provided for three vice-counties: last recorded year, number of records, and number of monads (distribution units). Notes clarify taxonomic issues, historical misidentifications, and unconfirmed records. The methodology explains how duplicate records were removed and how varying grid reference precision was standardised.
