We hold free or heavily subsidised invertebrate workshops on identification, recording, curation and field craft to help boost the skills of beginners and experienced entomologists alike. These are complemented with drop-in sessions to facilitate mentoring and networking. We also organise invertebrate recording days across the region to bring together the invertebrate recording community and facilitate improvements to baseline data coverage at selected important sites. City Nature Challenge – Greater Manchester
26th April - 29th April
Greater Manchester (GM) has entered the 2019 global City Nature Challenge from Fri 26th -Mon 29th April, with the GM entry run by Manchester Museum and Great Manchester Local Records Centre (GMLRC) / Greater Manchester Ecology Unit (GMEU).
The aim is to record as many species with as many recorders as possible anywhere in GM over the 4 days – reserves, gardens, parks, local patches etc. GMLRC are aiming to have recording events across GM – ideally one in each district – for anyone interested in joining in locally.
So far the following recording events are likely – note all TBC – at:
• Whitworth Park (Museum/GMLRC)
• Smithills Estate (Woodland Trust)
• Chorlton Water Park (RSPB/Mersey valley)
• Wythenshawe (Sandilands wood), also Trafford? (City of Trees)
• Peel Park/Meadows (Salford Rangers)
For more information about how you can get involved, and to sign up to further updates, please contact GMLRC’s Stuart Fraser
